The award from The Accountant/International Accounting Bulletin
IMA's award for "Professional Body of the Year"
IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) is honored to be named 2017 Professional Body of the Year by The Accountant/International Accounting Bulletin, a prestigious global accounting publisher. Now in its fifth year, the program celebrates the best among organizations and individuals in accounting and finance globally that successfully serve their stakeholders through innovation and thought leadership. Award recipients were recognized at a gala ceremony at the Tower Hotel in London on October 4. IMA UK Chapter President Fatema El-Wakeel and UK Chapter Treasurer Ahmad Alajdad attended the event and accepted the award. The full list of award winners is available here.

Award finalists and winners were selected by a panel of independent judges. Describing IMA as recipient of the Professional Body of the Year, The Accountant/International Accounting Bulletin noted:

The Institute of Management Accountants managed to face professional challenges and competition from other professional bodies in 2016 by focusing on its core values. One juror noted the professional body's constant encouragement of its members for professional education. The introduction of campaigns and specific certification helped the professional body reach a record 90,000 members.

With its Global Core Values guiding strategic decisions, in 2016 IMA launched the creative, multi-year campaign titled, “You’ve got to earn it,” which points to the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) certification. This year, the certification reached new heights as IMA achieved a record-breaking 26,057 new CMA candidates and gained 44,138 CMA exam registrants, representing a 39% and 36% year-over-year increase, respectively. Last month, IMA re-launched its CMA integrated ad campaign with a “future of accounting” theme featuring a 30-second TV commercial, which can be viewed on the IMA YouTube channel.
