IMA and EFWA Award Annual Scholarships
Award celebrates women in accounting who are supporting members of their families
Montvale, N.J. and Cincinnati, Ohio, August 24, 2023 — IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants), one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession, and EFWA (The Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting), are proud to announce its annual scholarship recipients.
For 2023, three scholarships, two undergraduate and one graduate, were awarded to women in accounting who are the primary source of support for themselves and their families. Holly Bacon from Colorado State University-Pueblo and Samantha Terrell from Western Governors University are the undergrad recipients, and Ying Yan Wong from the University of Colorado-Denver is the graduate recipient.
All three recipients receive a monetary award along with member benefits from IMA, including a free student membership for three years, and the waiver of CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) entrance and exam fees.
“Our goal is to support every student pursuing a career in accounting with our resources. It is particularly important for us to support our EFWA recipients every year as these women look to diversify the profession while continuing to support their families,” said Patricia Stefanczyk, CAE, vice president, governance, corporate secretary & volunteer relations at IMA.
”We are excited to be able to continue to fulfill our mission of providing scholarships and mentoring in our pursuit of the advancement of women who are pursuing careers in accounting, something we’ve been doing for nearly 60 years. Our scholarships are sometimes the very piece of the puzzle that allow these women’s dreams to become a reality,” said Robert Bendetti, Jr., CPA, president of EFWA.
