IMA Launches 2022 Student Case Competition
Stern Strategy Group
Montvale, N.J., September 21, 2021 – IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants), the association of accountants and financial professionals in business, today launched its 2022 Student Case Competition, which provides an opportunity for students to interpret, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and communicate a solution to a management accounting problem.
The 2022 case was written by Junaitha Gaffor and Desi Arisandl, Ph.D. from the Singapore Institute of Technology and featured in the August 2021 issue of Strategic Finance magazine. The case asks students to look at the fictitious indoor sports company The Cage’s competitive position and how to maximize the value provided to its customers.
“We are always looking to breed the next generation of accounting and finance professionals and CMAs and our Student Case Competition helps us to find them,” said Jim Gurowka, CAE, Senior Vice President, Global Business Development at IMA. “We’re excited that this competition has become a global one and look forward to reviewing this year’s submissions.”
The competition is comprised of six regional competitions and open to all college students throughout the world. Students will work in teams of three to five at their respective schools and compete in IMA’s regions. The top four teams from the U.S. competition will convene at IMA’s Annual Conference in Austin, Texas to declare a winner in June 2022. All finalist team members will receive a CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) scholarship worth over $2,000, travel and hotel expenses to the IMA Annual Conference where the finals will take place, free conference registration, and a team commemorative plaque. The first-place team will win a $4,000 cash prize; the other teams will each receive a $2,000 cash prize.
