Members with questions about the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) program and how it can benefit their career can get answers during IMA’s next “Ask Me Anything” event on the Reddit platform.
The event will take place on February 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET. Anyone—both IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) members and nonmembers—can begin submitting questions at 10 a.m. that day.
Fielding the questions in real time will be IMA member Michael Kelley, CMA, CPA, who has worked in the finance industry for more than seven years. Michael began his career at Deloitte, and he’s spent the past two years as a global operations manager at Nike, where much of his work involves data analysis, cost management, and overseeing a global supply chain. He’s especially eager to answer questions about making major career decisions, what it’s like to be a CMA, and moving from a Big 4 firm to industry.
To participate in this “Ask Me Anything” event, Reddit users must sign into the Reddit platform or create an account at www.reddit.com. After they do, they can find the discussion in Reddit’s accounting subreddit, with nearly 210,000 members: https://reddit.com/r/Accounting/. The discussion will also be found by searching this title on Reddit: “I’m a CMA and moved from Deloitte to Nike two years ago. Ask me about my career, what it’s like to be a CMA, or moving from Big 4 to industry!”
After the real-time event takes place, the discussion thread will be accessible on the Reddit site for access to anyone who would like to view the questions and answers.
“This forum provides a good opportunity for anyone who wants to know more about how the CMA program can support you in your career journey,” said Dennis Whitney, CMA, IMA senior vice president of certifications, exams, and content integration. “We’re pleased to have a practitioner share his first-hand perspective of working as a CMA and some of the questions that candidates might have about career and certification decisions.”
