Looking for an opportunity to share your experience and advance the management accounting profession around the world? Then consider applying to serve on the IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) Global Board of Directors.

IMA is looking for qualified candidates to serve two-year terms on the Global Board beginning July 1, 2020. Senior-level professionals with prior volunteer experience at IMA or another organization are encouraged to apply.

Global Board members have a variety of responsibilities. These ambassadors for the organization:

  • Lead IMA’s grass-root efforts
  • Oversee IMA’s policies and procedures
  • Represent IMA with external organizations and industry stakeholders
  • Monitor IMA’s financial health and committee activities
  • Support IMA’s mission, vision, and values

Pat Stefanczyk, CAE, IMA vice president of governance and volunteer relations, said, “Giving service at the Global Board level is a great way to build your professional network and impact management accounting at a global level. You become a collaborator in helping to shape and execute the organization’s priorities and goals. You also become an advocate for our members and part of an esteemed group of leaders committed to the organization and the profession.”

Potential candidates must be able to satisfy IMA’s Director competencies, which were adopted to outline the leadership experience, skills, and knowledge that IMA aspires to maintain within its Global Board. The following requirements are desirable in any candidate seeking a position on the Board:

  • Ethical
  • No undisclosed conflict of interest
  • Able to commit to necessary travel time and travel funding
  • Good communication skills (e.g., speaking, listening, writing)
