IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) and the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) are excited to announce a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the advancement and encouragement of inclusion within the accounting profession and in the marketplace as a whole.
The MoU, signed by IMA President and CEO Jeff Thomson, CMA, CAE, and NABA President and CEO Jina Etienne, CPA, expands their current relationship and outlines the basis for ongoing cooperation, collaboration, and alignment between the two organizations. Partnership tactics, which include joint webinars, speaking engagements, and alignment on thought leadership content, will map back to crucial themes for both organizations: diversity, certification, and the accounting profession.
“Diversity and inclusion are vital to the future of the accounting profession, and at IMA we’ve long encouraged and supported the necessity of these within our field,” said Thomson. “Much of what we do at IMA supports moving the accounting profession forward, whether by certification, skills, or overall inclusion, and this marks an important partnership for our organization.”
Commenting on the MoU, Etienne added, “For 48 years, we have been a catalyst for change in the diversity profile of our profession. NABA is uniquely positioned to move the needle in a meaningful way for blacks in the accounting and finance professions, and partnering with IMA will help us accelerate positive change for members in both organizations.”
