While talent retention has been a focal point of organizations for many years, its importance was amplified by the stressors the COVID-19 pandemic brought to the workplace. In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, COVID hit an already depressed economic situation, with high rates of unemployment, informal employment at low-quality jobs, and low annual economic growth.

To better understand the current state of talent retention in the accounting and finance profession, IMA canvassed more than 280 current and former accounting and finance professionals in the MENA region about their intention to stay or leave their current employer as well as their satisfaction with job features such as flexibility, development, and growth.

The report offers worker perspectives that can inform employer retention strategies.
