CMA Exam to be Translated into Japanese Language
IMA certification will be available in native language for users in Japan starting in June 2025
Montvale, N.J. and Tokyo, February 4, 2025 — IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants), the association of accountants and financial professionals in business, today announced that its CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) certification exam will be translated and available in the Japanese language. IMA is one of the largest and most respected associations focused on advancing the management accounting profession, working to empower and connect business professionals to build a positive future.
The exam will be available in Japanese starting in June 2025 and users can sit for the exam in either Tokyo or Osaka. IMA members pursuing the CMA in Japan will have the option to sit for both parts of the exam in their native language. The CMA is globally recognized in more than 150 countries and helps accounting and finance professionals advance within their organizations and careers with the potential to earn a higher salary.
“Japan has an abundance of talented accounting professionals focused on financial planning and analysis. With the availability of the CMA exam in Japanese, our hope is that these professionals take advantage of this opportunity to advance their careers and provide additional insights and benefits to their organizations,” said Mike DePrisco, president and CEO at IMA.
The CMA exam consists of two parts of multiple choice and essay questions, with the first part focusing on financial planning, performance, and analytics and the second part focusing on strategic financial management. Overall, the exam tests 12 management accounting competencies, including financial planning and analysis, a critical job requirement for any management accountant. Once an individual passes both parts of the exam and meets educational and work experience requirements, they will earn their CMA.
IMA will celebrate the launch of the Japanese exam at the Accounting & Finance Human Resources Conference 2025 in Tokyo on March 6-8, 2025. Any IMA member interested in registering for the exam in June 2025 should contact the local course provider, TAC Co., Ltd, for additional information. Subsequent testing dates and locations for the CMA exam in Japanese will be announced as they become available.
