IMA to Host COSO Internal Control Certificate Live Workshops
Montvale, N.J., March 24, 2017 – Evolving technologies, globalization, and changing business models have increased the need to focus on the challenges of designing and implementing effective internal controls that adapt to these changing conditions. With that in mind, IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants), the association of accountants and financial professionals in business, will be hosting live COSO (Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission) Internal Control Certificate workshops globally to help accounting and financial professionals to sharpen their internal control management skills.
IMA is offering two live workshops this year. The first one is scheduled for April 10-12, 2017 in Singapore; the second will be held June 5-7, 2017 at IMA Global Headquarters in Montvale, New Jersey, United States.
This 25.5 CPE credit program is designed to support an organization’s implementation efforts and examines how a principles-based approach can be used to design, implement and evaluate an effective system of internal control utilizing the COSO Internal Control-Integrated Framework. Upon successful completion of self-paced learning, a hands-on workshop and an online examination, candidates will receive an official COSO certificate.
Prior to attending either live workshop, participants will be required to complete online, self-study pre-work that earn up to 4.5 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.
Throughout the workshop, participants will be guided through the COSO Internal Control – Integrated Framework using real-world scenarios. The workshop, which is a blend of self-paced learning and live classroom training, will allow participants to:
- Recall key points related to the principles-based approach
- Recognize ways to identify, analyze and respond to risks
- Develop confidence in internal control systems
- Learn from experts who will share their knowledge and professional experience
After successful completion of the coursework and an online final exam, participants will earn a total of 25.5 CPE credits and a COSO Certificate of Educational Achievement. For more information, visit www.imanet.org/COSOcert.
