Montvale, N.J., May 23, 2016
– In line with the organization’s global expansion and commitment to developing the capabilities of management accountants around the world, IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) announced the launch of its new Chinese Learning Center and a suite of continuing education courses. This new online platform provides a one-stop shop for continuous learning for accounting, finance and management professionals in China.

Accessible through the IMA China website (www.imanet.org.cn/), users now have a complete end-to-end Chinese language experience. They have the ability to enroll and participate in self-study courses, track completion status, take completion tests, check transcripts, and receive completion certificates. The first series of 21 courses covers the most popular topics in China, such as risk management, internal control, cost management, financial analysis, with more to come. The course package is worth 20+ CPE credits. The Chinese Learning Center is free for IMA members. Non-members can visit IMA online storehttp://www.imanet.org.cn/learning/lms  to purchase the course package.

“As the only global management accounting association with a major presence in the world’s two largest economies – the U.S. and China— IMA is the first global accounting or finance association to offer a complete Chinese language experience. This underscores our commitment to enhancing management accounting careers, the business performance of organizations, and the public interest,” said Jeff Thomson, CMA, CAE, IMA president and CEO.

According to Thomson, IMA believes native language will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of knowledge sharing and learning for management accounting professionals in China. Last December, IMA launched a new Chinese Association Management System to serve members and candidates. IMA’s other Chinese language products and services include two local offices to serve members, the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) exam, exam preparation, Chinese language website, thought leadership reports, and professional publications.

The Ministry of Finance of China will issue the final version of Basic Guidance of Management Accounting to strategically drive the development of management accounting in China this year. The implementation of the Guidance is expected to make management accounting adopted by a wider scope of organizations, boosting demands for accountants and financial professionals with relevant skills.

“The launch of the new Chinese Learning Center and continuing education courses shows IMA is providing innovative services for China market. There has been a rapidly growing demand for management accounting skills among Chinese financial professionals since 2014,” said Junjiang Bai, director of IMA’s Asia/Pacific region. “For nearly 100 years, IMA has been committed to advancing management accounting profession. And it is our mission and responsibility to provide a better forum for management accounting skills learning and knowledge sharing.”

“IMA’s Chinese Learning Center empowers financial professionals through on-demand skills, best business practices, and the most current industry trends in management accounting. IMA will continue to produce more knowledge products and contribute to the development of management accounting profession in China,” Bai added.
