ICMA Announces Leading Performers on CMA

Montvale, N.J., July 19, 2013 – The Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA®), the certification division of IMA®, today announced the leading performers on its Certified Management Accountant (CMA®) examination for the most recent testing periods. Individuals were recognized in both the English and Simplified Chinese exam programs.
IMA’s globally recognized CMA program is a relevant assessment of advanced accounting and financial management knowledge in four critical areas: financial planning, analysis, control, and decision support. The CMA assures employers that an individual has mastered the knowledge and skills needed on the job today.
Of more than 3,200 individuals who took the CMA exam in English during the January/February 2013 testing period, medals were awarded to the following individuals for their exceptional performance:
- Lee N. Niedenthal, of Novi, Mich., received the ICMA Gold Medal for achieving the highest exam score.
- Molly G. Brown, of Harrisonburg, Va., received the ICMA Silver Medal for achieving the second-highest exam score.
- Cynthia Stiles, of San Diego, Calif., received the ICMA Bronze Medal for achieving the third-highest exam score.
In addition, for the English exam in the January/February 2013 testing period, ICMA awarded Certificates of Outstanding Performance to the following: Dr. Stephen Dukas, of Asheville, N.C.; Xiaohua Feng, of Shanghai, People’s Republic of China; John Robert Rogers, of Oklahoma City., Okla.; Victor S. Singh, of Nakuru, Kenya; Dakui Wang, of Beijing, People’s Republic of China; Zixin Zeng, of Boston, Mass.; and Guerman Zoubarev, Burnaby, B.C., Canada. Alexandra Wiesinger, of Leonding, Austria, received the Priscilla S. Payne Student Performance Award for achieving the highest score as a student during this testing period.
For the two-part CMA exam program in Simplified Chinese for the December 2012 testing period, ICMA recognized the following individuals:
- Wei Cai, of Beijing, received the ICMA Gold Medal for achieving the highest exam score.
- Yilin Li, of Shanghai, received the ICMA Silver Medal for achieving the second-highest exam score.
- Liang Deng, of Shenzhen, received the ICMA Bronze Medal for achieving the second-highest exam score.
For the two-part CMA exam program in Simplified Chinese for the April 2013 testing period, ICMA recognized the following individuals:
- Longhai Zhu, of Nanjing, Jiangsu, received the ICMA Gold Medal for achieving the highest exam score.
- Min Yang, of Beijing, and Hongyuan Zhang, of Dongguan, Guangdong, both received the ICMA Silver Medal for achieving the second-highest exam scores.
In addition, for the Simplified Chinese exam in the April 2013 testing period, ICMA recognized the following with Certificates of Outstanding Performance: Linxing Qian, of Wuxi, Jiangsu; Wei Song, of Suzhou; Dong Yan, of Suzhou; Xiao Yang, of Beijing; and Wang Zhou, of Nanjing, Jiangsu.

Thompson, CMA, CFM, CPA (N.C.), ICMA Board of Regents chair. “This past fiscal year, we have experienced record growth in terms of number of CMA candidates and number of CMA certificates awarded. By earning their CMA certification, these professionals are not only bolstering their own career outlooks but they are also contributing to the financial and strategic excellence of their organizations.”
He continued, “Further, the inclusion of medal honorees for the exam in Simplified Chinese points to the exceptional demand we are experiencing for CMA-certified professionals in that region. Since the introduction of the two-part exam into Simplified Chinese, we are attracting a significant number of professionals in China. We expect this trend to continue as management accounting professionals all over the world, including the Asia-Pacific region, value the program’s emphasis on in-demand skill such as financial planning, analysis, control, and decision support.”
