The FMAA exam is a two-hour, 80 multiple-choice question test that covers the fundamentals of accounting and finance. The exam is focused on five core competencies: (1) general accounting and financial management, (2) financial statement preparation and analysis, (3) planning and budgeting, (4) cost management and performance metrics, and (5) professional ethics.
IMA’s newest global certification, the FMAA was designed to help professionals (and students) gain confidence to speak the global language of business. It’s ideal for:
- Early business career professionals: Professionals with job titles like Junior Accountant, Specialist, Analyst, and Manager
- Business professionals: Professionals in nonaccounting roles (marketing, HR, operations, business owners) who want to understand the basics of financial and managerial accounting
- Students: Students from two-year schools who are accounting and business majors, plus vocational schools; students from four-year schools, who can take the exam to jumpstart their careers before progressing to the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) certification
To help members prepare for the FMAA, IMA has partnered with several authorized course providers: Gleim Exam Prep, HOCK international, and PRC. Visit the FMAA certification webpage to learn more.
