Are you a controller or working within the controllership function with a seat at the leadership table – or are you serving in a more traditional accounting role, wishing you could step outside the box and evolve into a more strategic partner to the organization? That’s among the key issues to be discussed during an upcoming Inside Talk webinar, “Stepping Outside the Box: Elevating the Role of the Controller,” to be held at 1 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, June 6.

Kip Krumwiede, CMA, CPA, Ph.D., IMA director of research, and Beth Kaplan, CPA, Deloitte managing partner and co-founder of Deloitte’s Center for Controllership™, will lead the one-hour talk, which will explore a forthcoming joint IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) and Deloitte report by the same name on this topic.

To prepare the report, IMA and Deloitte surveyed nearly 800 (majority U.S.) financial professionals in the controllership function to learn how they are navigating the challenges of their roles, what skills they have that they feel need to evolve, and how they continue to add value to their companies. The report provides information on factors that can help professionals in the controllership function deliver more value and evolve with their organization.

This free webinar, available to all IMA members, will unpack the key findings of the report and examine how those in the controllership function spend their time compared to where they should or would like to spend their time. The presenters will discuss what differentiates those who have a seat at the executive table versus those in more traditional roles and how they can benefit by being more strategic business partners.

Registration is available here.

The full report will be available on the IMA website later this month.
