The original chapter in Italy was formed in 1967, one of IMA?s first European chapters. The reactivated IMA Italy Chapter, based in Milan, was founded in 2017, in large part because of the initiative of current president Francesco Aldo De Luca, CEO of AdMaioraSemper S.r.l., also in Milan. De Luca has taken an active role in engaging members and promoting CMA? (Certified Management Accountant) certification among his peers.
Currently, the chapter has nearly 50 members and its numbers have grown steadily over the past year.
Commenting on the significance of the Italy Chapter, Mulder said, ?This perfectly aligns with our strategy to raise awareness about the CMA in all regions around the world. The success of that strategy is indicated by the program?s growth this past fiscal year, when ICMA awarded a record-number 6,000 new CMA certificates and the number of new CMA candidates soared by 50% compared to last year. This chapter event was a great example of thought leadership and IMA members sharing knowledge and networking. This raises awareness of the CMA while at the same time delivering benefits to our members.?
Mulder explained that the chapter is already making plans for additional continuing professional education events. IMA Europe just created social media accounts where professionals can find more details about chapter activities in their region as well as the CMA certification.
