Join IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) President and CEO Jeff Thomson, CMA, CSCA, CAE, for the next installment of his “Series for the Future.” For this session, which will begin on January 31 at 12 p.m. EST, Jeff will share his global perspective on future-proofing the profession, fresh off of his eight-city tour of India. Members and friends of IMA are welcome to participate in the session as it takes place live on IMA’s Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/IMAnetORG.
As the second-most populous country in the world, India is experiencing a growing demand for skilled management accountants. Jeff will discuss the issues facing the global accounting profession, drawing on industry research, his own experiences, and observations detailed in a recent book, “What To Do When Machines Do Everything: How to Get Ahead In a World of AI, Algorithms, Bots, and Big Data,” by Malcolm Frank, Paul Roehrig, and Ben Pring.
As Jeff shares insights on these key focus areas and more, IMA members and Facebook friends are encouraged to participate. All are encouraged to ask questions or provide feedback in the comment section immediately below the Facebook Live session. Stay tuned in to IMA’s Facebook page as participant questions will be answered throughout the day.
During the first “Series for the Future,” offered on October 6, 2017, Jeff addressed the topic of automation and how it impacts the accounting profession and accounting careers. Jeff also discussed several key topics related to the future of accounting, including critical analysis and application of the IMA Competency Framework, utilizing data science and data analytics methods in management accounting, and continually developing new skills to become a value-added business partner. You can view a video of that session here.
