Shifting business models, emerging technologies, and increased globalization have made the need for solid internal controls more important than ever. To help address this challenge, IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) hosted its popular COSO Internal Control Certificate workshop in Chicago on March 27-29. The workshop offered professionals an in-person training opportunity to sharpen their internal control management skills. It attracted accounting and finance professionals from businesses of varying sizes and across diverse industries.

During the workshop, Sandra Richtermeyer, CMA, CPA, Ph.D., dean of the Manning School of Business at University of Massachusetts Lowell and former IMA Chair; Paul Walker, Ph.D., CPA, Schiro/Zurich chair in Enterprise Risk Management at St. John's University; and Rob Golder, adjunct professor and IMA senior manager of educational products and processes, shared their knowledge and professional experiences with the COSO Internal Control—Integrated Framework using real-world scenarios.

Workshop participants also provided additional insight into industry needs and competency requirements for applying this valued COSO material, making for an interactive, fun, yet educational experience.

After successful completion of the course and online final exam, participants will earn a total of 25.5 NASBA CPE credits, a COSO Certificate of Educational Achievement, and a digital badge to proudly post on their social media sites.
