On Friday, October 6, join IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) President and CEO Jeff Thomson, CMA, CAE, for his first, “Jeff’s Series for the Future” Facebook Live session. In this inaugural session, which will begin at 12 p.m. EDT, Jeff will be talking about one of the biggest threats and opportunities to management accountants, automation. Members and friends of IMA are welcome to participate in the session as it takes place live on IMA’s Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/IMAnetORG.

A burgeoning topic of both interest and concern, automation is not coming, it is here now, and will only continue to increase quickly within management accounting and finance. As artificial intelligence, robotics, and advancements in technology continue to impact tasks traditionally performed by accountants, many professionals are wondering: what’s ahead for the profession and how will this impact my career?

During the Facebook Live session, Jeff will address several key items related to the future of accounting including critical analysis and application of the IMA Competency Framework, utilizing data science and data analytics methods in management accounting, and continually developing new skills to become a value-adding business partner.

As Jeff shares insights on these key focus areas and more, IMA members and Facebook friends are encouraged to participate. All are encouraged to ask questions or provide feedback in the comment section immediately below the Facebook Live session. Stay tuned in to IMA’s Facebook page as participant questions will be answered throughout the day.

If you haven’t done so already, be sure to get social with IMA! Information about this session and news about upcoming “Jeff’s Series for the Future” events will be posted on IMA’s Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts.
