-
How did you first come across the CMA and what made you decide to go for it?
I was encouraged by my boss to pursue the CMA, especially since my job was related to the certificate curriculum. The CMA paved the road, which allowed me to not just walk, but to run in an efficient, flexible way to develop my career.
- In what ways has CMA made an impact on your career or professional journey?
The CMA assisted me in doing my job in a more professional way because it covered many practical scenarios. The material taught me practical skills to do my job rather than only using theory, which is taught already in universities. It’s a decision support tool that makes the information meaningful.
- What is your proudest career moment or milestone as a CMA?
The proudest moment in my career was when I was nominated as a star employee in my company as a result of my preparation of a complex budgeting and costing model. This achievement was earned through the practical knowledge that I gained from CMA, such as ABC costing, contribution margin method for decision making, FP&A techniques, etc.
- What’s the best piece of advice you would give to CMA hopefuls?
The CMA is a work style. It teaches you a lot, not only about financial specialization, but also many personal and professional skills, such as working under pressure, committing to deadlines, and how to make intelligent tactical decisions under time pressure.
- For those taking the exam, what study tip(s) can you share?
Prepare well! Give yourself enough time to study, use flow charts and diagrams, organize study groups with friends, and make sure you do as many practice questions as possible.
- If you could have one superpower in the world, what would it be?
I would like to be Spiderman, so I can bring peace to the world and also get a kiss from Mary Jane.
