Evolving technologies, globalization, and changing business models have increased the need to focus on the challenges of designing and implementing effective controls that adapt to these changing conditions. With that in mind, IMA? (Institute of Management Accountants) has introduced a new program to earn the COSO Internal Control Certificate. This new certificate offers professionals a unique opportunity to develop internal control expertise.
IMA is offering two ways for professionals to sharpen their internal control management skills: live workshops or online self-study. The first live workshop is scheduled for April 10-12, 2017 in Singapore; the second will be held June 5-7, 2017 in Montvale, N.J.
Prior to attending either live workshop, participants will be required to complete online, self-study pre-work that earn up to 4.5 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.
Throughout the workshop, participants will be guided through the COSO Internal Control ? Integrated Framework using real-world scenarios. The workshop, which is a blend of self-paced learning and live classroom training, will allow participants to:
- Recall key points related to the principles-based approach
- Recognize ways to identify, analyze, and respond to risks
- Develop confidence in internal control systems
- Learn from experts who will share their knowledge and professional experience?
After successful completion of the coursework and an online final exam, participants will earn a total of 25.5 CPE credits and a COSO Certificate of Educational Achievement.
For professionals interested in the self-study option, the online certificate program offers the same topics from the live COSO workshops in a convenient online format. This program includes videos of leading industry experts providing tips and recommendations to help guide participants through the material. Similar to the live workshops, completion of the self-study option includes satisfactorily passing the COSO final assessment exam. Professionals will earn 17 NASBA-approved CPE credits and a COSO Certificate of Educational Achievement.
