IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) officially launched its new UK chapter at an inauguration conference held in London on February 3, 2017. During the event, IMA outlined its future strategy in the UK and met with members of the chapter’s founding board.

The conference took place at the Hilton Hyde Park under the auspices of IMA’s global headquarters and IMA Europe. The full-day event shed the light on the chapter strategy as well as its future plans.

Fatema El-Wakeel, CMA® (Certified Management Accountant), IMA UK chapter elected president said, “Being an IMA member myself and having previously founded the Cairo Chapter, I know from personal experience how important it is for IMA members to have the support of a local chapter.”

“The mission of the UK chapter is to empower its members and add value to the strategic finance and management accounting profession through providing a global perspective,” added El-Wakeel.

The conference included the charter ceremony as well as four guest speakers covering current topics. Alex Eng, CMA, CFM, CPA, Chair-Elect of IMA’s Global Board of Directors spoke about corporate governance, while Nina Michels-Kim, CMA, IMA director of European operations presented a talk entitled, ‘Blinded by Pressure’.
