It’s never too early to start thinking about the future – especially when that future involves growing your career and gaining new skills to compete in today’s forward-moving accounting profession. Although registration is not yet open, mark your calendars now to attend next year’s IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) Annual Conference & Expo, which will be held in Indianapolis, Ind., June 16-20, 2018. Registration for the Conference will officially open in mid-February 2018.
The 2018 Conference will offer participants the opportunity to engage in keynote and concurrent sessions that follow the theme of Infinite Potential. Participants will gain insights that can help them grow professionally – both in their current positions as well as in their future careers.
Next year’s Conference will once again offer concurrent session tracks designed exclusively for management accountants working in today’s business environment. These include:
- Planning, Budgeting, and Forecasting
- Small Business and M&A
- Ethics
- Technology
- Financial Close and Reporting
- Leadership and Professional Development
- Accounting Hot Topics
- Governance, Risk Management, and Internal Controls
- Strategy and Competitive Analysis
The Strategy and Competitive Analysis track will be offered for the first time at the 2018 Conference. It aligns with IMA’s newest specialty credential, the CSCA® (Certified in Strategy and Competitive Analysis), now available to all CMA®s (Certified Management Accountants). The new credential, as well as this concurrent session track, will focus on ways that accountants can better drive strategic planning, build resilient financial plans, and manage risk to help their organizations sustain competitive advantage.
Attendees can expect to enjoy the usual networking opportunities that are the hallmark of any IMA Annual Conference & Expo. The 2018 Conference will also feature something special: an opportunity to experience ethics like never before by participating in the Sunday movie night screening of an award-winning documentary, All the Queen’s Horses. The film, the debut directing effort of prominent IMA speaker Dr. Kelly Richmond Pope, recently earned the HBO Best Documentary award.
Noted LeighAnn Tobia, CMP, IMA conference and events senior manager, “We’re excited about the keynote speakers we’ve assembled for our 2018 Conference and look forward to offering participants an array of sessions that will equip them with tools needed to better succeed on the job – both today and tomorrow.
“We also encourage members to begin to inquire with their employers about financial support. Although registration is not yet officially open, now is the perfect time to seek out financial assistance to ensure that you don’t miss this one-of-a-kind event in Indianapolis next June.”
