Recaps: A Busy Few Months for Our Chapters

IMA Europe participated in several events over the past few months, many of them organized by our chapters:

 

Student Case Competition

 

Congratulations to the finalists of our Student Case Competition: Grenoble Ecole de Management (France), KIMEP University (Kazakhstan), and University of Economics in Katowice (Poland). All the teams had to leverage their strategic and critical thinking skills to solve the business case, “Kunapipi Gardens: Transfer Pricing in the Service Industry,” and the judges were very impressed by all the student submissions.

 

The winning teams were invited to present their case analysis at the European Final in Warsaw on 3 March, and University of Economics in Katowice, for the second consecutive year, was crowned the winner! See the team photo below. 

 

Winners Poland

 

The IMA Student Case Competition is comprised of six regional competitions. All university students are eligible to participate in their regional competition.

 

Poland Chapter

 

The 3 March meeting in Warsaw also featured an in-person chapter event for the Poland Chapter, its first. The event celebrated the launch of the new chapter and the inauguration of the new chapter officers: Kamelia El Helou, GRE Controller at JPMorgan Chase, president; Kamila Pawlak, Regional Head EMEA, Credit Risk & Receivables at Elsevier, secretary; Jiashian Peng, Cash Application Analyst, Boston Scientific, treasurer; and Gokul Chambackal Adithyan, Operations Analyst – AML at NatWest Group, vice president of engagement. Switzerland Chapter

 

On 9 March, the IMA Switzerland Chapter and EMEA Recruitment hosted an event on how to boost your energy levels. The event, “Energy: A Journey in Personal Leadership,” featured trainer Jonathan Cave, founder and CEO of MyPhy. He discussed how to better understand the interaction between your emotional, mental, and physical state at any time and how to proactively manage your energy levels to deliver high performance on a consistent basis.

 

On 25 January, the Switzerland Chapter also hosted a webinar titled “Companies Upscaling and the Role of Management Accountants.” The panel discussion focused on the process of companies’ upscaling and observing it from different perspectives. Featured speakers included: Bernardin Generalao, director, IMA regional partner relations, who discussed the strategic function of management accountants in the upscaling process; Michael Meyer, CFO of Sparrow Ventures, who explained the business model adopted by his company; and IMA Global Board Member Purnima Mishra, who shared her experience as a professional in nonprofit accounting and financial management.

 

Germany Chapter

 

On 28 February, the IMA Germany Chapter and Konektio hosted an insightful webinar to explore the ways digital transformation through IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) technology can improve an organization's profitability, sustainability, and ESG initiatives.

The webinar helped participants learn the latest trends in digital transformation and how companies across industries are leveraging speed and scale to transform their operations.

 

Amsterdam Chapter  

 

The Amsterdam Chapter hosted the second session in its ESG webinar series on 14 February. The session, titled “ESG Webinar Series-Integrated Reporting,” was co-hosted by CPMview and featured speaker Tjeerd Krumpelman, global head of reporting, regulations, and stakeholder management at ABN AMRO and chair of the Integrated Thinking and Strategy Group of the IFRS Foundation.

 

During the webinar, Krumpelman shared his company’s learnings throughout their sustainability reporting journey. He also focused on the implementation of integrated reporting and integrated thinking.
