Maria del Dado Alonso Sanchez, CMA, was recently appointed to the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) Professional Accountants in Business Advisory Group as IMA’s representative. A strong supporter of the recently launched IMA Spanish Chapter, Alonso served on the IMA Global Board of Directors and the ICMA Board of Regents from 2017 to 2022.

As a PAIB member, Alonso will work to support climate action, gender equality, and the quality of education, in addition to strengthening IMA's international leadership. Serving in IFAC's PAIB offers an opportunity to advocate for faster transformation of the finance profession.

“It is an honor to be able to take part in the challenges and opportunities affecting companies and our profession from my international perspective,” said Alonso. "The Digital Revolution will deeply transform the knowledge-work economy. It is key to develop the new skills to help new professionals transition into this new normal, by engaging with educational bodies and advocating for change in the profession.”

“We are honored to have Dado Alonso as a member of the IFAC PAIB Advisory Group in 2023,” said Stathis Gould, director, member engagement and PAIB at IFAC. “Each member brings a unique perspective to our work as a global accountancy profession, and her experience as a finance professional in fast moving digital environments will help IFAC further empower the profession to meet the needs of business and the public sector.”

As CFO of Berlin Brands Group, Alonso brings more than 25 years of financial experience to her position. Before this, she served in different finance executive roles at Naspers, C&A Netherlands, Booking.com, and Amazon Europe. She started her career at Siemens and earned her CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) from IMA in 2013. Alonso has been a member of IMA since 2012.
