IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) Europe hosted its first-ever European Student Case Competition (SCC), enabling university students from the region to exercise their strategic thinking and analytical skills to solve a business case.

The competition was a resounding success, with 28 student teams of three to four students each entering the competition, despite the challenges of a global pandemic. The teams were asked to develop a solution to a case published in the August 2020 issue of Strategic Finance magazine, titled, Should Star Textiles Cut Out The Intermediaries?

“All of our student teams did an amazing job with this assignment and truly showed creative, innovative solutions to a real-world scenario,” said Alain Mulder, senior director, IMA Europe Operations. “It was tough selecting a winner, and we congratulate all of these students, and their faculty advisors, for participating in what we hope will become an annual event for IMA Europe. We hope the students learned leadership, problem-solving, and presentation skills from this experience – and had a bit of fun, too.”
