The competition was a resounding success, with 28 student teams of three to four students each entering the competition, despite the challenges of a global pandemic. The teams were asked to develop a solution to a case published in the August 2020 issue of Strategic Finance magazine, titled, Should Star Textiles Cut Out The Intermediaries?
In March, a panel of judges had the difficult task of selecting three finalist teams, who are invited to defend their solution in front of a specialized jury in an online webinar this month.

At the finals held on June 29, the judges selected Team Spicy Consultants as the winners (runner-up was Team Problem Solvers). Team Spicy Consultants will move on to the SCC finals, where they will compete in a virtual event against the winners of the Southeast Asia and the Middle East and India student case competitions.

“All of our student teams did an amazing job with this assignment and truly showed creative, innovative solutions to a real-world scenario,” said Alain Mulder, senior director, IMA Europe Operations. “It was tough selecting a winner, and we congratulate all of these students, and their faculty advisors, for participating in what we hope will become an annual event for IMA Europe. We hope the students learned leadership, problem-solving, and presentation skills from this experience – and had a bit of fun, too.”
