The IMA Austria Chapter held a virtual event, via Zoom, on 24 November, titled “Whistleblowing: Chance, Challenge, or Hurdle?” Headlining the event was Shahanaz Müller, senior manager of Deloitte Austria; and more than 85 attendees registered.
The presentation outlined the development of whistleblowing regulations in Austria, taking into consideration the new EU Whistleblowing Directive and its effect on the obliged entities. It also aimed to provide an overview of whistleblower regulations in the U.S. as well as other countries with similar legislation. The talk provided a framework for effective whistleblowing management, as well as included a discussion about best practices and important lessons to be learned.
The event concluded with remarks by leaders of the IMA Austria Chapter, who introduced themselves and encouraged attendees to attend future IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) chapter events. Present from the IMA Austria Chapter were Ivo Sokolov, chapter president; Dominik Millner, chapter treasurer; Alejandro Verdin, chapter secretary; and Christine Bischoff, chapter VP of membership.
