IMA’s Germany Chapter recently hosted an event at Deloitte Berlin, featuring leading experts on the topic of software asset management (SAM) and attended by about two dozen members and nonmembers.

SAM is a substantive part of IT service management and critical to the success of any organization. SAM covers all processes and infrastructure necessary to manage software assets within an organization, including ensuring that every organization is in full compliance with software’s legal agreement.

The event was held on 23 May at Deloitte Berlin and was organized by Dr. Chris Schmidt, a member of the IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) Germany Chapter board, and Rasha Manna, from Deloitte. Featured speakers were:

  • Lutz Hoffmann, senior manager, Extended Enterprise Risk Advisory at Deloitte, who discussed SAM, including its main goals and benefits, the subject of license audits, and training available at Deloitte’s SAM academy.
  • Svenja Vorwerk, senior consultant at Deloitte.

“We were pleased with the response to this chapter event, which enabled attendees to learn more about the strategic value of software asset management and how it can help ensure greater transparency and cost efficiency,” said Bernardin Generalao, IMA partner relations manager, DACH region. “We hope that attendees came away with a greater understanding of the license compliance process and can implement what they learned within their organizations.”
