In her presentation, Dr. Gamhewage spoke about “The hard truth about soft skills.” She began with a reflection about what it means to be successful and then went on to describe what is needed to manage emotional intelligence. She discussed research that has found that emotional intelligence can often matter more than IQ and why it’s important to cultivate emotional and social intelligence leadership competencies.

Commenting on this initiative, Mulder said, “We have been very pleased with the response to these information sessions, which seek to share information about the content of the CMA exam and the benefits of earning this globally respected certification. We look forward to meeting with members and the broader business community in 2020 to continue this program and discuss how earning the CMA helps professionals expand their career options and earning potential.”

IMA’s CMA certification is a relevant assessment of advanced accounting and financial management knowledge in critical areas such as financial planning, analysis, control, and decision support. Earning it requires education, experience, and passing a thorough two-part exam covering 12 of the most critical practice areas that are most in demand by organizations around the world.
