IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) is hosting two featured events this September: a Faculty Friday webinar and an IMA Student Series: Accounting and Finance panel.

Faculty Friday

On Friday, September 16, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. ET, IMA will host a Faculty Friday webinar on “Data Cleaning in Introductory Accounting: What, Why, and How.” It will feature Jennifer Cainas, DBA, CPA, associate dean and professor of instruction, University of South Florida; Tracie Miller, Ph.D., CPA, lead faculty, Franklin University; and Wendy M. Tietz, Ph.D., CMA, CSCA, CPA, accounting professor, Kent State University. They will discuss what data cleaning is and why it should be taught in introductory accounting courses. They’ll also share teaching strategies and share free resources that provide turnkey data cleaning projects for introductory accounting. For faculty members, bringing these real-world concepts into your classes will give students a jumpstart on data analytics.

IMA also recently hosted a Faculty Friday on August 12, “How to Integrate IMA Resources into the Classroom,” featuring Mary Patterson, IMA manager of academic outreach-East region; and Tyler Skelton, IMA manager of academic outreach-West region. They led a lively discussion with faculty members about how to effectively use IMA resources in their classroom and curriculum. The webinar gave faculty members the opportunity to ask questions about incorporating IMA resources and offerings for students, just in time for the upcoming academic year.
