IMA’s annual conference has a new name: IMA’s Accounting & Finance Conference (IMA22)!
IMA22 will offer exciting ways for educators to explore the latest developments in management accounting education and research. This year’s Conference will be held in a hybrid format: In person in Austin, Texas, on June 12-15, with select sessions also available in livestreamed format for those who wish to attend virtually. Special Early Bird pricing is in effect until April 15 only. Registration is now open.
For educators, the Conference offers two sessions, both titled “Pecha Kucha: Applied Research and Teaching Innovations,” in its Academic track (one of nine specialty tracks). Leveraging the Pecha Kucha style and format (in which 20 slides or images are displayed for 20 seconds each, for a total of six minutes and 40 seconds), these rapid-paced sessions will discuss research projects underway or recently completed by academics. Innovative teaching approaches for critical management accounting concepts will be covered as well. Both sessions will explore how scholars are utilizing research and innovation to advance the management accounting profession and prepare the next generation of leaders.
The sessions will be available exclusively to in-person attendees and during two time slots: June 13 from 10:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. CT and from 2:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. CT. Each offers 1.5 hours of CPE credit.
“For our academic members, IMA22 is a great opportunity to learn about the latest trends in management accounting research and hear about new teaching innovations to incorporate into your classes,” said Loreal Jiles, IMA vice president of research and thought leadership. “This will be the first IMA annual conference to meet in person since 2019, and the networking between fellow management accounting academics and practitioners promises to be a highlight, as always. We encourage all educators who can attend to do so.”
