IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) continues to host its popular “Faculty Friday” webinars, with two upcoming sessions on new and engaging topics. These hour-long webinars cover in-demand topics that can add excitement and energy to the classroom experience.

The next webinar, “HyFlex Teaching: What, Why, and How,” will be held on December 11 from 2-3 p.m. EST. Featured speakers are seasoned educators Dell Ann Janney, CPA, associate dean and professor of accounting, Culver-Stockton College; and Wendy Tietz, Ph.D., CMA, CSCA, CPA, professor, Kent State University. They will discuss how in this pandemic environment, many faculty members are being asked to teach using the HyFlex model, which means teaching in the classroom and online simultaneously. Janney and Tietz will cover what HyFlex is and its inherent challenges, as well as share practical advice about how to improve HyFlex teaching to increase student engagement.

  • “The Bots Are Coming…to Intro Accounting,” held on September 25. Featured speakers were Jennifer Cainas, CPA, DBA, clinical professor at University of South Florida; Tracie Miller-Nobles, CPA, associate professor at Austin Community College; and Wendy Tietz. They covered the seemingly daunting task of introducing robotic process automation (RPA) and bots into an entry-level accounting course, including where to find RPA classroom resources that are designed for the learner – or instructor – who has no knowledge of RPA. A recorded version is available at YouTube.
