IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) continues its popular “Faculty Friday” webinar series with four presentations this fall. These hour-long webinars are available to educators (and anyone else who may benefit) and cover in-demand topics that can add excitement and energy to the classroom experience.
The sessions scheduled this fall are as follows:
“Become a Data Analytics Rock Star in Intro Accounting”
Friday, September 27, 10-11 a.m. EDT
This session will be led by Wendy Tietz, Ph.D., CMA, CSCA, CPA, professor at Kent State University; Tracie L. Miller-Nobles, CPA, associate professor at Austin Community College; and Jennifer Cainas, DBA, CPA, clinical professor at University of South Florida. They will discuss why data analytics needs to be taught, even in introductory accounting classes, as well as how to access classroom resources that are designed for the learner – or instructor – with no knowledge of this topic. Student Edition Doubleheader:
“Résumé Writing Tips”
Friday, October 18, 1-2 p.m. EDT and
“Interviewing Skills”
Friday, October 18, 2:30-3:30 p.m. EDT
Both these sessions will be led by Passard Dean, CMA, CSCA, professor at Saint Leo University [see related story in this issue]. In the first hour, he’ll provide advice and suggestions for writing a résumé that is easy to read and gets noticed. In the second hour, he’ll discuss how to prepare for, conduct yourself, and appropriately follow up after an interview. Register by visiting this link.
"Take Two: Dual Certification Can Be Done”
Friday, October 25, 1-2 p.m. EDT
This session, led by Joseph Hargadon, Ph.D., CMA, CPA, and Lori Fuller, Ph.D., CPA, will discuss the benefits of becoming a CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) as well as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant). It will discuss the courses students need to take to prepare for both exams and the advantages of obtaining dual certification. The session will be based on the presenters’ recent article that appeared in the August issue of Strategic Finance: “Dual Certification: It Can Be Done.” Watch your inbox for registration details.
All webinars will offer one hour of CPE credit and preregistration is required.
