At the IMA^® (Institute of Management Accountants) Annual Conference & Expo in Indianapolis last month, ICMA^® (Institute of Certified Management Accountants) honored two organizations for their long-time support of the CMA^® (Certified Management Accountant) program and recognized numerous outstanding IMA chapters.

Joining a group of prestigious organizations committed to excellence, Philips – the Dutch technology company headquartered in Amsterdam and currently focused in the area of healthcare – was the recipient of this year’s Bulloch Award.

The Bulloch Award, given annually to an organization that has demonstrated outstanding sponsorship, encouragement, and support of the CMA program, honors the memory of James Bulloch, ICMA’s first managing director. Bulloch helped to create the original CMA framework as well as develop the high standards of the CMA program that are still followed today. Previous Bulloch Award winners have included Ping An Insurance, Cummins, Microsoft, Xerox Corporation, Saudi Aramco, Caterpillar, and IBM, among others.

In recognition of its outstanding support of the CMA program, Brigham Young University was the recipient of this year’s ICMA Board of Regents Recognition Award. Accepting this award on the university’s behalf was Parker Davis, a graduate of the Brigham Young University Marriott School of Business. Last year, Johnson & Johnson received this award.

Said Paul Juras, CMA, CPA, Ph.D., chair, ICMA Board of Regents, “ICMA is pleased to recognize Philips and Brigham Young University for their strong support of the CMA program. Philips actively encourages CMA certification among its accounting and finance employees and has maintained a connection to the program over many years. And Brigham Young – the first educational institution to receive the Regents’ Recognition Award and a member of the IMA Higher Education Endorsement Program – continues to develop both faculty members and students who are actively committed to earning and helping others to obtain their CMA. We look forward to continued collaboration with both these organizations.”

In addition, during a special Awards Luncheon, ICMA recognized outstanding IMA chapters, including winners of the Board of Regents Chapter/Club Awards, which were presented to chapters and clubs with the best record of achievement in support of the CMA program. These awards are based on the number of new candidates, number of parts passed, and number of CMA certificates issued. Winners were recognized in two divisions: large and small chapter/club.

In the large chapter/club category, awards went to: Beijing East (first place); China Education (second place); and Shanghai Pu Xi (third place). Small chapter/club awards went to: Mumbai (first place); Delhi (second place); and Chennai (third place).
