At the IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) Annual Conference & Expo in Denver last month, ICMA® honored two organizations for their long-time support of the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) program and recognized numerous outstanding IMA chapters.
Joining a group of prestigious organizations committed to excellence, Ping An Insurance of China, an integrated financial services conglomerate headquartered in Shenzhen, was the recipient of this year’s Bulloch Award. The award was presented during the IMA Annual Meeting of Members on June 18.
The Bulloch Award, given annually to an organization that has demonstrated outstanding sponsorship, encouragement, and support of the CMA program, honors the memory of James Bulloch, ICMA’s first managing director. Bulloch helped to create the original CMA framework as well as develop the high standards of the CMA program that are still followed today.
Previous Bulloch Award winners have included Cummins, Microsoft, Xerox Corporation, Saudi Aramco, Caterpillar, and IBM, among others.
Also at the Annual Meeting of Members, ICMA recognized Johnson & Johnson – the multinational medical devices, pharmaceutical, and consumer packaged goods manufacturer – which was honored for its long-time support of the CMA program with this year’s ICMA Board of Regents Corporate Recognition Award. Last year, Kimball, the international furniture manufacturer, received this award. Accepting the award on Johnson & Johnson’s behalf was John Lottier, senior finance director for the company’s Medical Devices sector.
Said Samuel C. Weaver, CMA, CFM, Ph.D., 2014-2017 former chair, ICMA Board of Regents, “ICMA is pleased to recognize Ping An and Johnson & Johnson for their strong support of the CMA certification. Ping An, along with a growing number of entities in the People’s Republic of China, has made a clear commitment to encourage their employees to earn their CMA, a trend that reflects the steadily climbing popularity of the CMA program in this region. We also appreciate the outstanding support from Johnson & Johnson, which has for decades both promoted the CMA program within its current ranks and sought to hire those who hold the certification. We look forward to continued collaboration with both these companies.
In addition, during a special Awards Luncheon, ICMA recognized outstanding IMA chapters, including winners of the Board of Regents Chapter Awards, which were presented to chapters with the best record of achievement in support of the CMA program. These awards are based on the number of active CMAs, parts taken, number of parts passed, and number of CMA certificates issued. Winners were recognized in two divisions, large chapter and small chapter. In the large chapter category, awards went to: Beijing East Chapter (first place); Dubai Chapter (second place); and Shanghai Pu Xi Chapter (third place). Small chapter awards went to: Hangzhou Chapter (first place); Lebanon Chapter (second place); and Philippines Chapter (third place).
