COSO Live Is Coming to Chicago

IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) is bringing the popular “COSO Internal Control Live Workshop” to Chicago next month: a three-day event to be held on March 27-29 at the Hilton Garden Inn O’Hare Airport.

The workshop – which IMA has previously offered at its global headquarters in Montvale, N.J., and in Singapore – takes participants through the COSO Internal Control—Integrated Framework using real-world scenarios. Through a blend of self-paced learning and live classroom training, participants will gain critical expertise in designing, implementing, and conducting an effective internal control system, enabling them to:

  • Understand the principles-based approach to internal controls;
  • Identify and analyze risks;
  • Develop confidence in their internal control system; and
  • Learn from experts who will share their knowledge and professional experience.

Expert instructors will include Sandra Richtermeyer, CMA, CPA, Ph.D., COSO board member and former IMA Board Chair; Paul L. Walker, CPA, Ph.D., Zurich Chair in enterprise risk management (ERM); and Robert Golder, IMA senior manager of educational products and processes.

Prior to attending the workshop, participants will be required to complete online, self-study pre-work that earn up to 4.5 continuing professional education (CPE) credits. After successfully completing the course and an online final exam, participants will earn a total of 25.5 NASBA CPE credits and a COSO Certificate of Educational Achievement.

For professionals interested in a self-study option, an online certificate program offers the same topics from the live COSO workshops in a convenient online format. This program includes videos of leading industry experts providing tips and recommendations to help guide participants through the material. Similar to the live workshops, completion of the self-study option includes satisfactorily passing the COSO final assessment exam. After taking the course and passing the exam, professionals earn 17 NASBA CPE credits and a COSO Certificate of Educational Achievement.
