Save the Date: Annual Student Leadership Conference to be Held Nov. 9-11 in Houston

Mark your calendar now for a trip to the Lone Star state: The next IMA® Annual Student Leadership Conference (SLC) will be held at the Marriott Marquis Houston in Houston, Texas, on November 9-11, 2017. For students, it’s the ideal opportunity to learn valuable skills and gain access to resources to help them land that first professional position. Conference registration officially opens on September 5 at www.imaslc.org.

At the Conference, attendees will learn from leading practitioners and educators about career opportunities, the value of the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) certification, leadership development, job-search tips, and more. The Conference also will feature many popular events, including preconference industry tours, the Friday night networking social as well as the popular SLC t-shirt competition (congrats to last year’s winner, Athens State University!).

Said Jodi Ryan, IMA director of student and academic relations, “Last year’s conference attracted more than 600 attendees, and we’re looking to build on that success. You definitely won’t want to miss out on our conference in Houston, which again will feature a slate of speakers and activities that will be both fun and educational, helping attendees develop critical networking and career-building skills.”

She continued, “Many students and IMA student chapters start planning their fundraising activities now to help to cover conference travel expenses. Reach out to your school’s student activities department or parent IMA professional chapter now, or explore some fun, creative ideas, such as crowdfunding, or car washes and more. Consider brainstorming with your classmates and professors about other new ways to finance your conference attendance.”
