Michael J. Phillips, CMA, CFM, CTP

Michael J. Phillips is executive vice president of BankSmart Solutions of Clearwater, Fla., which provides consulting services to the financial services industry throughout the United States. Prior to this role, he was the chief executive officer of Planters First Bank of Cordele, Ga. Phillips has gained more than 35 years of management, leadership, and consulting experience within the community banking, publicly traded regional banking, and financial services industries, primarily in Georgia and Alabama.

An IMA member since 2010, Phillips currently serves on the IMA Small Business Committee and was past co-chair of its Emerging Issues Subcommittee. As a member of the IMA Global Board, Phillips serves on the Performance Oversight and Audit Committee.

Phillips holds an MBA in finance from Fairfield University and a BS in computer science and business administration from Troy University. He graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University and the School for Bank Administration at the University of Wisconsin. Phillips has earned numerous advanced professional certifications, including the CMA, CFM, Certified Risk Professional (CRP), Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA), and Certified Treasury Professional (CTP). He is also a member of the Small Business Advisory Committee of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).
