Strategic Finance Article featured as winning article in IFAC’s 2007 Articles of Merit Competition
An article that appeared in the April 2006 issue of Strategic Finance, “Finding the Right Mix” by Kip Krumwiede and Shannon Charles is featured as the winning article in the International Federation of Accountants ( IFAC’s ) 2007 edition of Articles of Merit. Click here to read more.
IFAC’s 2007 edition of Articles of Merit features award winning articles selected by IFAC’s Professional Accountants in Business Committee as part of its annual Articles of Merit award program. The 2007 publication includes articles on matching management practices to organizational strategy, board processes and the quality of decision making, key client account management, environmental management accounting and evaluating the return on information technology investments.
Three of 10 articles from editions of Strategic Finance were featured in the 2007 edition of Articles of Merit. In addition to the winning article, the other two articles featured were, “Six Levels of Financial Knowledge” by George Manners and “Second Wave Benefits of XBRL” by Brian McGuire, Scott Okesson and Liv Watson from the August and December 2006 editions of Strategic Finance.

Role of Professional Accountants
Providing assurance, facilitating management decision-making and strategic development, and serving as the gatekeeper of corporate integrity are all key roles of professional accountants in business that are highlighted in The Diverse Roles of Professional Accountants in Business, released by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). The booklet, which provides insights into the varied responsibilities of professional accountants in business, features interviews with 16 senior-level accountants working in a variety of organizations in 11 different countries. The interviews were conducted by Robert Bruce, a leading accountancy journalist.

IFAC Seeks 2008 Board and Committee Members
IFAC is seeking nominations for 2008 boards and committee members, including four public member positions on its independent standard-setting boards. IMA is in the process of identifying members that can be considered for IFAC nominations. World Congress of Accountants 2006 - Istanbul
The 17th World Congress of Accountants will be held in Istanbul at the Istanbul Convention & Exhibition Center (ICEC), between November 13-16, 2006.
The World Congress of Accountants is organized every four years in a different country by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). It is estimated that 5,000 delegates from every part of the globe will attend the WCOA 2006 Congress.
The IMA, an IFAC member body will be represented at this event and our President & CEO, Paul Sharman will be one of the technical speakers.

IMA Launches Global Knowledge Resource for Professional Accountants Working in Business:
Effective October 2, 2006 IMA members have one-stop access to a new global knowledge resource, IFACnet.com, which features guidance and other documents developed by IMA, the International Federation of Accountants, and more than a dozen accountancy organizations around the world geared specifically to accountants working in business as well as the public sector. This new resource will enable members to more easily search and obtain information that can help them to keep pace with both technical and marketplace changes and to deliver high quality work.
