Academic Poster Sessions at IMA’s 89th Annual Conference and Exposition
Call for Proposals

IMA encourages submissions for the Academic Poster Sessions to be held during IMA’s 89th Annual Conference and Exposition being held June 14 to 18, 2008, in Tampa, Florida. These sessions are intended to showcase ideas, research, strategies, and education innovations that support the advancement of the management accounting profession. All submissions should be in the form of a manuscript and description of the poster session. The manuscripts are eligible for publication in Management Accounting Quarterly (subject to meeting editorial guideline requirements).

The Poster Sessions will provide presenters with an interactive opportunity to discuss their work with Conference participants. Faculty interested in sharing business application or education-oriented research are encouraged to submit proposals.

• The deadline for submission is March 17, 2008. Peer review of submissions will be completed in April, and notifications of acceptance will be sent on or before May 1.
  
  
• Accepted proposals are eligible for publication in Management Accounting Quarterly, IMA’s online journal that presents an in-depth look at management accounting and financial management techniques and theories for practitioners, academics, and other financial professionals. • Poster presenters must register for the Annual Conference.

Poster Session details:

• The Academic Poster Sessions will take place at Tampa Convention Center on Sunday, June 15, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Each session presenter will be provided a 4’ X 8’ board on which paper can be taped, tacked, or velcroed. Poster presenters will have access to the Solutions Showcase earlier on Sunday to set up their work. Presenters are asked to be “show ready” by 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Breakdown of the materials is scheduled for Sunday, June 15, between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Presenters must be present during the poster session.
  
  
• Poster presentations may include brief narratives, pictures, tables, graphs, photos, and other materials. The presentations should be targeted directly for a practitioner audience.
  
  
• Poster presenters will be responsible for their own display materials, handouts, and for setup and removal of their displays. Providing handouts or electronic distribution to interested participants is encouraged.
  
  
• If your poster session requires electrical equipment, you will need to provide your own equipment and source of power, (e.g., batteries). No electrical support or Internet connections will be available in the Solutions Showcase.
  
  
• Those interested in sharing and gathering great ideas and engaging in lively conversations about accounting education are encouraged to submit and attend!
