IMA Educational Case Journal

The IMA Educational Case Journal (IECJ®) is a quarterly, online journal publishing teaching cases and research relevant to accountants and financial professionals in business.

IECJ accepts cases covering a wide range of topics reflecting the diverse skill set required of accountants and financial professionals working within organizations. Cases appropriate for either graduate or undergraduate classes are included. International submissions are welcome and encouraged. The IECJ is listed in the Cabell's Directory of Publishing Opportunities in accounting.

Research Foundation

IMA’s Research Foundation provides grants for research on critical issues. The Research Foundation has funded more than 250 studies on best practices, enterprise improvement, ethics, and other topics—study findings are made available via IMA publications and resources.

Sponsored Studies

IMA regularly sponsors in-depth research studies relevant to our members’ business activities. Recent studies have addressed topics such as cost management methodologies in China, the relationship between internal controls and restatements, and strategic business partner research.

Statements on Management Accounting

Our periodic Statements on Management Accounting (SMAs) are leading-edge, practice-based monographs on critical issues that affect the profession. SMAs cover a broad range of topics, including: Leadership Strategies, Cost Management, Ethics, Business Performance, Technology Enablement, and Enterprise Risk Management.

Research Library

The Research & Information Manager of the McLeod Information Center can help members obtain copies of articles from IMA publications and outside periodicals, conduct Internet research, and compile targeted bibliographies.

Ethics Center and Helpline

IMA’s Statement of Ethical Professional Practice and confidential Ethics Helpline offer guidance to all professionals with an ethical issue.

IMA for Educators

IMA is committed to supporting the academic community who are shaping the future of the profession.

IMA Academic members have access to award-winning publications, proprietary research, and a wide array of teaching resources, including case studies and teaching notes to support the management accounting curriculum.

IMA also provides funding for research and publication opportunities.


IMA Academic membership is available to full-time faculty members for $105 per year. That's 50% off the Professional member rate. To qualify, you must be a full-time faculty member and reside in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico.
