Int'l Instructions for Candidates
Article Control

The letter accompanying these instructions is your authorization to schedule the taking of your examination part(s) at a Prometric Testing Center. Please be sure that your name on this letter is the same as your name on the documents that you will use for identification at the testing center. If they are not the same, please request ICMA to issue a new letter with the corrected name.

Scheduling at a Prometric Testing Center (www.prometric.com/ICMA )

Your authorization letter shows an authorization number for each exam part that you registered to take. In addition, the interval dates shown represent the time/authorization period during which you are authorized to take these exam part(s).

Log onto www.prometric.com/ICMA to locate a testing center, schedule, confirm, reschedule, or cancel your appointment 24 hours, 7 days a week. You must schedule your examination during the dates provided in your authorization letter, as your authorization will expire at the end of the period.

  • You can also contact the appropriate Regional Registration Center (see RRC list) for initial scheduling requests by telephone. (Please note, using regular mail or fax is no longer a valid scheduling option.) Requests made by telephone must be made at least 7 days prior to the desired testing date.
  • To reschedule or cancel your appointment, visit www.prometric.com/ICMA or contact the RRC via telephone. You cannot reschedule or cancel your appointment by e-mail. Rescheduling and cancellations must be made by noon 5 business days prior to your testing date. If you fail to reschedule or cancel in compliance with the 5 business-day policy, your total fee for the exam part is lost.

    Cancellation Examples:

    • If your exam date is on Friday at 3pm, you must cancel by noon on the Friday before your scheduled appointment date.
    • If your exam date is on Friday at 9am, you must cancel by noon on the Friday before your scheduled appointment date.
    • If your exam date is on Saturday or Sunday at 10:00am, you must cancel by noon on the Monday before your scheduled appointment date.

  • Upon written request, ICMA will consider limited time period extensions of the authorization period. For a processing fee of $50, ICMA can grant a one-time 60-day extension for parts 1, 2, and 3 of the CMA exam and a one-time extension to the following monthly testing window for part 4 of the exam.

General Instructions

  • Be sure to arrive at the Prometric Testing Center at least 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment in order to sign in, review procedures, etc. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your scheduled appointment, you may lose your scheduled sitting and be required to reschedule at an additional cost.

  • For admission to the examination, you will be required to present two forms of non-expired identification, one with a photograph, both with your signature. Approved photo IDs are a passport, driver's license, military ID, credit card with photo, or company ID. Student IDs are not acceptable. You will not be permitted into the examination without proper identification.

  • Small battery or solar powered electronic calculators restricted to a maximum of six functions - addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square root, and percent - are allowed. The calculator must be nonprogrammable and must not use any type of tape. OR Candidates can use the Texas Instrument’s BA II Plus, OR the Hewlett-Packard 10BII calculators when taking the exams. Candidates will not be allowed to use calculators that do not comply with these restrictions.

  • Candidates will receive ONE scratch paper booklet initially during their examination. If you require more sheets during the exam, you should raise your hand and ask the test center personnel for ONE additional booklet. Candidates are able to keep one used booklet in case they need to refer back to previous calculations. Candidates will be permitted to trade in ONE or TWO used booklets for ONE or TWO new booklets. Candidates are only permitted to have TWO booklets at any given time. The test center personnel will then collect and destroy ALL booklets from each candidate at the end of their testing session.
  • The test center will provide pencils for use in making calculations, etc., on the provided scratch paper booklet(s).

  • At the beginning of your test administration, you will be given the opportunity to take a tutorial that introduces the testing screens; the tutorial is not part of your testing time and may be repeated prior to starting the examination itself.

  • Upon completion of the examination, your performance results will be displayed on the screen and you will also receive a printed embossed copy of your results before leaving the center. (Part 4 "Revised" - Business Applications is graded offline and there is no immediate performance feedback. Grades are mailed to candidates approximately 30 days after each testing period).
