Montvale, N.J., July 24, 2012 – IMA®, one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession, has elected John C. Macaulay, CMA, of Richardson, Texas, as Chair of the IMA Global Board of Directors for the 2012-2013 fiscal year.
As IMA’s senior volunteer leader through June 30, 2013, Mr. Macaulay will work with IMA’s strategic partners, expand IMA’s thought leadership in the profession, and elevate awareness of the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) program, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
“It’s fitting that John, one of the first professionals to pass the CMA examination in 1972, be inducted this year as IMA’s Chair,” said Brian L. McGuire, Ph. D., CMA, CPA, CBM, CITP, IMA Chair-Emeritus. “I look forward to watching IMA continue to grow and succeed under John’s leadership as he plays an integral part in helping IMA achieve its strategic goals for the upcoming year.”
Macaulay retired at the end of 2010 as vice president, chief financial officer and controller for the telecom company, Royal Street Communications. He also spent 18 years with Fortune 500 company Dresser Industries, where he was the director of operations analysis and planning, and led financial activities during the formation of international and domestic joint ventures and acquisitions totaling more than $3.5 billion.
“IMA has given me many opportunities throughout my career, and I hope to create similar opportunities for the organization in the year ahead,” said Mr. Macaulay. “IMA offers many benefits, including the CMA program, leadership development, continuing education, and networking opportunities. I hope to continue IMA’s longstanding tradition of advancing the management accounting profession.”
Prior to being elected IMA Chair, Mr. Macaulay held several leadership positions within IMA. He served as the first chair of IMA’s Performance Oversight and Audit Committee, member of the ICMA Board of Regents, and chair of the Planning and Development Committee. Locally, he served as president of IMA’s Texas Council and president of the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter.
Mr. Macaulay earned an MBA with distinction from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University and a B.A. at St. Olaf College. He is also a graduate of Naval Officer Candidates School.
