We’re expanding IMA’s reach, resources, and relationships to serve our members on a
global scale.
During fiscal 2012, IMA announced significant partnerships with a number of respected global organizations, reflecting our concerted efforts to expand the scale and scope of our resources and to deliver greater value for IMA members.
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
IMA’s strategic partnership with ACCA brings together two global associations that share a strong commitment to empowering accountants and financial professionals to drive business performance. ACCA works to advance the professional development of its 600,000 members and students in 170 countries, helping them pursue successful careers in accounting and business with the skills required by employers. In addition to its learning and career-development programs, ACCA serves the public interest by promoting appropriate regulation of accounting and by conducting relevant research.
By working together, IMA and ACCA will help ensure the management accounting profession is responsive and relevant to a fast-changing world. Our plans include research collaborations, joint chapter events, and the exploration of opportunities to increase awareness and adoption of our respective certifications. We have already jointly produced several quarterly Global Economic Conditions Survey reports, reflecting the opinions of nearly 3,000 ACCA and IMA members around the world on the state of the global economy. We also held live CFO roundtable events in four cities around the world.
Overall, our partnership with ACCA should give us greater visibility and a stronger voice on matters of interest to the global profession.

John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
One of the world’s leading publishers of management and financial accounting textbooks and professional education materials, John Wiley & Sons is a $2 billion enterprise that reaches a broad array of faculty and students around the world. By partnering with Wiley, IMA will enhance the quality and availability of CMA learning products. Specifically, the partnership will leverage Wiley’s publishing and distribution infrastructure to improve product design and broaden global access for the CMA Learning System (CMA LS) suite of exam-prep products.
Wiley will publish and market the CMA LS product suite through its global, multichannel sales distribution system, including innovative delivery options such as mobile applications. This will advance IMA’s professional-education mission by expanding access to CMA learning materials through Wiley’s vast reach with educators and students. Wiley began sales of the CMA LS in late 2012.
Our relationship with Wiley should benefit our members and the profession by enabling greater awareness and adoption of the CMA certification program in the U.S. and around the world.

State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA)
We have continued to strengthen our extremely important partnership with the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), an administrative agency of the state council of the People’s Republic of China. Through this partnership, the CMA is the only accounting certification endorsed, backed, and promoted by TC-SAFEA, the training company of SAFEA. In short, TC-SAFEA provides oversight and education on the financial practices of state-owned enterprises, such as Petro China, one of the world’s largest companies. At our 2012 Annual Awards Dinner, SAFEA was presented with the prestigious ICMA Bulloch Award, which recognizes an organization that demonstrates outstanding sponsorship, encouragement, and support of the CMA program.
Together, SAFEA and IMA have been able to transform the management accounting profession in China. Through our work with SAFEA to date, nearly 10,000 current and aspiring accounting and finance professionals have entered the CMA program, helping to make their companies better and, in turn, enriching their professional lives. SAFEA has demonstrated a passion for developing finance and accounting talent for Chinese state-owned entities to create stronger organizations that serve society.

Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), Erasmus University
IMA’s partnership with RSM reflects our efforts to bolster our ability to meet the demands of an increasingly global profession. RSM has become the first university in the Netherlands to incorporate the CMA curriculum into its Master’s in Accounting & Control curriculum. The School will serve as an authorized CMA Review Course Provider, and RSM students who undertake an MScBA in Accounting & Control can also earn the CMA credential.
RSM ranks as one of Europe’s top business schools, and IMA is excited about partnering with such a prestigious university. Our partnership will enable management accounting students in the Netherlands to access quality exam preparation to sit for and successfully pass the CMA exam. The addition of the CMA curriculum to the MScBA degree program will further enhance the students’ career opportunities in the profession.
Our collaboration with RSM reinforces the position of the CMA as the most widely recognized international certification for management accountants. With businesses and the management accounting community becoming more multinational, initiatives such as this will help meet the profession’s needs on a global scale.
